It's been quite a while since I wrote anything over here... it seems I never have anything to say except when a convention comes up. Like right now! I'm leaving for Gatineau (Qc) tomorrow evening for G-Anime 2015, where I'll be sharing a table in the artist alley with Mytis. This will be my first experience to a convention as an artist and I'm quite stressed out about it, but also excited! I hope everything goes well D:

So, to anyone who's going, see you there!

I wasn't sure if I was to write a full report, but since I write one journal every 3 months, I thought it could be a nice idea. So, shortly: most stressful convention ever (cosplay wise). I made my first prop ever (Subaru's axe) in 5 days and that was a horrible idea (and I switched job halfway through the week, what a timing). I didn't know what I was doing and it ended up like a mess. Good thing though is that it's way more sturdy than I thought it was, I was afraid it would break somewhere during the day, so I think it's actually salvageable. I'll just need to sand the hell out of it and wait the right amount of time for the paint to dry. I really want to get this right.

-----

Friday (no cosplay): I didn't have time at all to go to the convention but I really wanted to see the World Cosplay Summit preliminaries, so I went anyway. It was great, I wish I can participate one day! Then I went back home to finish my prop. Mytis came to my rescue later on and helped me until 2 am or something (thank you <3).

Saturday (cosplay as Subaru): I managed to finish everything. I don't even know how. But at long last I had my .hack//SIGN cosplay and was just way too happy about it. All the nostalgia! And Vamp-Elanor also managed to finish her costume and she was the most adorable Tsukasa and I love this duo so much right now. That day I got to see the Final Fantasy concert, got a shoot with EleventhPhotography (I've been wanting a shoot from him for so long, his work is amazing), and participated in the masquerade. Despite all our last minute preparation and the stress, I had so much fun on stage, I'm seriously enjoying this more and more. We didn't win anything though and I was a bit disappointed in myself. I worked hard on my sewing, but I guess it wasn't enough... Gotta up my game a bit! All the entries were so great though, congratulations to all the winners! (You can see my skit right here if you're curious, and go to 4:55 afterwards, Mytis's sketch is hilarious).

Sunday (cosplay as Rin Kagamine): I've been wanting to cosplay from Vocaloid again for so long now. And these costumes actually turned out way better than I thought they did. This was a duo with Mytis as Gumi from the song Invisible. Pretty comfy (except the shoes). We didn't do much that day. Masquerade award ceremony, nice photoshoot (and the pictures turned out amazing, I love them to death), very quick shopping (I got to meet Orpheelin and I'm way too happy about it) and ended the weekend with a nice meal in Montreal's old port.

I want to thank all my friends for this great weekend! I was afraid it would be a disaster, what with all my stress and lack of sleep (which made me grumpy on friday and I am so sorry about it...), but I had a great time and I'm actually more motivated than ever to make costumes. I thought I would want a 5 months break or something after that but nope, I now have big projects in mind (and the worst case of post convention depression I've had). Special thanks to flare8521 for the car rides (seriously, big thank you), Fenneck for the help with the .hack//SIGN photoshoot (you're the best ) and PA-X for the Vocaloid pictures, they're amazing.

Thank you all again, I love you!

(Additionally, I'll be a Den Mom for the masquerade at Montreal Comiccon so see you all again in less than 2 weeks!)

I am sorry for the cosplay spam! I just realized I didn't post a lot of pictures and figured I'd just upload them all at once. So, Otakuthon 2014 will be there in 2 and a half months, and a lot happened about it already. I really wanted to get a table in the artist alley, but I learned the hard way that if you don't send your registration in the first 30 seconds the inscription opened, you can't have a spot (I sent it 15 minutes later). I was really mad and sad about it, it was kind of my only motivation to go this year.

So instead, I decided to find another motivation and will *try* to enter the masquerade with the amazing Vamp-Elanor with a .hack//SIGN duo. We've been wanting to do this for a couple of years now, this was one of the first animes I've watched. Nostalgia and cosplay are such a nice match. This year, Otaktuhon will also be hosting the first World Cosplay Summit preliminaries for Canada, which is kind of pretty amazing. I wanted to participate to that too, but it was such a last minute announcement for that kind of event, everybody already has their plans, so I don't have a partner and I am not sure I could make another big costume and prepare a complex skit for it. I'm a bit sad about it right now, but I guess there's always next year~

And that's about it for the cosplay news! For more updates, you can visit my facebook page. And now I need to go back to drawing. Inspiration is lacking so much lately and that's a big bummer :(

I would like to start by thanking everyone who started watching me in the last couple of days and commented on my little movie. I'm just overwhelmed by all the feedback I got, it really made me smile. So a huge thank you to everyone, really. That said, I'd also like to add that commissions are still open unlimitedly for an unknown period of time. All informations should be in this little guide linked bellow :)

Well, this almost didn't happen. Buses were canceled for 2 days straight because of the snow storm, and we were very close to give up. But on friday morning, we miraculously left for Katsucon. It cost us our friday since it was a 13h ride, but 2 awesome days of conventions are better than nothing. Nothing major happen, but there was a lot of just sweet random moment that made this weekend amazing.

KATSUCON 2014

Friday (no cosplay):
Not much happened since we arrived at 23h30 or something. On top of everything that went bad though, we were given a room with one bed. For 4 people. And of course there were no spare bed left. I wasn't even surprised at that point, but we managed to improvise a little bed with the sofas in the room. One sweet thing that happened that evening though is that the registration was still open, so we could pick up our badges (and it took 5 minutes). The only ID I had on me was my health care card, so when I gave it to the lady at the desk, she looked at it weirdly for 2 minutes, and then went "oooh you speak french!" and she started to speak french and I was just all "what the hell" and it made me really happy, it was just too random. She was really nice.

Saturday (cosplay as Anastasia): It's been a while since I had this much fun at a convention. I felt like at my first convention, running around, amazed by everything and taking pictures of cosplayers. I got pictures in the famous gazebo, people gave me random gifts (seriously, I got a rose and a lollipop). Actually, everyone was just so kind and enthusiastic, the general atmosphere of this convention was amazing. At some point I tried to get my inner canadian out to take pictures outside but there was too much wind, it just messed up my wig and gave funny photos (but thanks PA-X for bracing that cold wind and take those pictures). In the evening I did something I never did: changed costume. That big dress was getting uncomfortable, and I had my pokemon trainer costume I was supposed to wear on friday. So I changed (along with Mytis). We were randomly dragged in a small pokemon gathering, and this was absolutely fantastic.

Sunday (cosplay as Clara Oswald): I think I had more fun than I should have. I am a very recent Doctor Who fan and this costume was just me giving on to my obsession of the moment. Mytis and PA-X joined me as Rose Tyler and the 9th Doctor, and I had the most fantastic of days. Very comfy too. Again that day we were dragged into a random gathering and took pictures. Doctor Who fans are very nice and friendly, and I am very glad I got to cosplay this at Katsucon. To my surprise, I was recognize a lot and I'm really not sure it would be the case if I was to wear it at my local conventions.

I caught a small cold after that. I'm not very surprised, what with all the lack of sleeping and not eating that well. And going outside. But I regret nothing, this is a very amazing convention and I had such a great time. It just made me want to go to more US conventions.

Thank you to all my friends who traveled with me, I love you, it was amazing!
